Snow?

Recently, I went on a sprint break vacation to Jackson Hole. I go every single year, and every single year there seems to be less and less snow.

This year, they had the least amount of snow fall in decades. They were missing 100’s of inches.

It was also quite warmer then usual.

This doesn’t just affect skiers and snowboarders.

The Jackson lake is down 40% of water which also affects a lake called Colter Bay. People won’t even be able to load their boats in the water this year.

Rivers and creeks will be dry and wildlife will have less of a water source.

The whole area will also be dry and wildfires will be be very likely to happen.

This is happening everywhere; all around the world. This situation does not seem to be improving either.

This was an eye opener for me and one of the first times global warming has affected me personally.

Carbon In the Congo

Today I read a newspaper article about the Congo rainforest in Africa.

Did you know that researchers discovered lots of carbon stored in the rainforest?

Scientists and People of the Congo trying to protect the congo.

The decision is to protect this rainforest because this is important to the fight against climate change right?

Wrong, well sort of. Let me explain.

Loggers come in and tear down the rainforest for wealth. No matter how much the people of the Congo try to stop them, they can’t. They do not have enough money.

This just makes it so the loggers can keep tearing down these trees.

If we don’t do something soon, climate change could get much worse.

Elephants

Did you know that even when tusks are taken from elephants and the elephant is not killed, the elephant will still probably die?

This is because elephants rely on their tusks for grabbing food, fighting, and just to live.

Elephants tusks can be used for ivory which Is a very wanted material around the world.

The white horn-like things are tusks. Elephants rely on them.

Many affects have gone through to stop the taking of tusks but people like poachers who kill elephants do it illegally.

There are many illegal ivory trades around the world and elephants have become endangered.

Flooding

With sea levels rising from polar ice melting, flooding will happen more and more and this is why.

The United States itself has had its temperature increase 1.8 degrees Fahrenheit as of 1901 and is continuing to increase.

Because of global warming, the weather has become more intense and has made for increased flooding.

Many people have been displaced from their homes and will continue to be with the increase in temperatures.

Melting Away

The impact of melting glaciers on the earth

Over the years, glaciers have been melting more and more rapidly and even though some say there is no effect on the average person, there very much is.

With glaciers melting at such an expansive rate, the sea levels are rising elevating coastline levels and weather patterns everywhere.

Why are there so many intense storms these days? Melting glaciers slow oceanic currents which alters the weather!

Many animals have also been impacted for natural habitats have disappeared which has caused many species to become extinct.

Finally, there is the loss of freshwater with glaciers as 68.7% percent of fresh water is stored in glaciers. Obviously, fresh water is very important for survival.

In conclusion, glaciers melting truly have an impact on us and will have more of an impact on us in the future.
